COUNCIL POLICIES

COUNCIL REMUNERATION


Whereas the Ontario Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990 c. M.45, Section 242(1) states that the Council of a municipality may pass by-laws for paying remuneration to the members of Council, and such remuneration may be determined in any manner Council considers advisable, and the remuneration to be paid may be determined in different manners and be of different amounts for different members of Council;

And Whereas Section 244 states that Council may pass by-laws for paying remuneration to a member of Council or other person who has been appointed by the Council to serve as a member of a local board;

NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Township of Conmee enacts as follows:

1. The Reeve shall be paid an allowance of $75.00 for attendance at meetings of Council or attendance at meetings other than Council, as approved by Council.

2. That the Reeve shall be paid an allowance of $150.00 for attendance at meetings which are more than 3 hours in length during a weekday or more than 3 hours length on a weekend, as approved by Council.

3. That the Councillors shall be paid an allowance of $60.00 for attendance at meetings of Council or attendance at meetings other than Council as approved by Council.

4. That Councillors shall be paid an allowance of $120.00 for attendance at meetings which are more than 3 hours in length during a weekday or more than 3 hours in length on a weekend.

5. Payment of expenses to Members of Council as a result of their acting either within or outside the Municipality in their capacity as Members of Council of the Municipal Corporation shall be:

a) use of private vehicle - $0.40 cents per kilometre
b) meal allowance where no meals are otherwise provided. Receipts must be submitted to the Clerk-Treasurer
c) transportation costs other than by private vehicle, shall be reimbursed in full, upon submission of a receipt to the Clerk-Treasurer
d) accommodation costs shall be reimbursed in full, upon the submission of a receipt to the Clerk-Treasurer

6. When Councillors have approval, by Resolution of Council, to attend specific meetings, conferences or seminars outside of Council, remuneration shall be made as per our By-law 878 and only for the actual time, as stipulated in the Resolution, of their attendance at the meeting.

7. When Councillors have approval and are delegated to be a member of a Committee, ie NOMA, TBDML, etc. remuneration shall be made as per our By-law No. 878. Attendance at any sub-committees formed as a result of this delegation must be approved by a resolution of Council.<
