USE OF COPORATE EQUIPMENT


Purpose

Council is desirous of establishing a policy for the use of various Township equipment so that Councillors and staff are aware of the permitted and prohibited uses and to regulate the use of Township Equipment by non-employees.

Procedure

In general, no employee shall request or permit the use of municipal-owned vehicles, equipment, materials or property for personal convenience or profit, except where such privileges are granted to the general public.

Consumable supplies such as paper, ink, and other office supplies shall be used for Township activities and requirements only.

Computers shall be used for Township business only and shall not be removed from the building, except for the lap-top computer that may be used by a Township employee when at seminars or conferences where a computer may be required to take notes, minutes or carry information, at the discretion of the Clerk.

The Township vehicles shall be used only for Township activities and only by Township employees while performing their duties for the Township.

The Township cell phones be used only during the performance of the Township employee's duties.

All requests for use of equipment shall be approved by Council.

Use of Equipment by Residents

Equipment may be used by Township Residents provided that a damage deposit and fee as per the Fees and Charges By-law is paid.

The damage deposit will be used by the Township to replace any lost, stolen or damaged equipment. All renters shall sign a completed inventory form that lists all the equipment being taken. Staff shall ensure that the inventory form is filled out for all renters and that it is checked again when the equipment is returned to ensure that there is no damage and all equipment has been returned. The damage deposit will be returned if no damage occurred.
