Latest Updates

Thursday, July 2, 2026

The Township's Summer Drop-In Recreation Program officially kicked off on Thursday, July 2. Although no children attended on the first day, staff used the opportunity to prepare materials, organize activities, and ensure everything was ready for the weeks ahead.

Launching a new program often takes time to build awareness within the community, and staff are looking forward to welcoming children and families throughout the summer.

Friday, July 3, 2026

On Friday, July 3, several children who were already using the playground stopped by and were invited to participate in craft activities. This provided an opportunity to introduce children and families to the Summer Drop-In Recreation Program and begin building awareness of the program within the community.

Child Participation & Emergency Contact Forms will be provided to participating families. As a reminder, the Summer Drop-In Recreation Program is a parent/guardian-attended drop-in program and not a childcare service. Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising their children at all times. The form includes emergency contact information, medical information, photo consent, and acknowledgement of program requirements.

Week of July 6 to 10

This week’s children’s theme was based on Toy Story and included fun games and activities from Slinky Dog art craft to Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head craft and a Gold Rush scavenger hunt. For Wednesday’s Seniors day the theme was Travel/Vacation that involved fun games and crafts from Travel themed bingo to Outdoor Bowling and Ring Toss.

Week of July 13 to 17

This week’s programming was held indoors in Community Center's Community Hall due to the heat and the effects from the wildfires, but there was still plenty of fun to be had for all. Activities ranged from Playdough Sculpture Making, Care Bear Art, and Minion Arts/Crafts. On Friday, there was a free Movie Day with popcorn for the kids that featured Peep and the Big Wide World and Paddle to the Sea provided by the National Film Board of Canada. For Senior’s Day there was a 70’s theme, activities Trivia (Jeopardy, Guess the Musician), Rock Painting (Lady Bug theme), Sunflower Paper Plate Craft, and much more!
